Visual representation of the colonized body in North Africa. A decolonial audio visual narrative. |
Nada Zraidi is a visual anthropologist and filmmaker specializing in audiovisual and media anthropology. Her work critically examines colonial archives, representation politics, and the affective power of images in shaping North African identities. Through film, photography, and archival reinterpretation, she challenges mainstream narratives and seeks to reclaim marginalized stories.
Her master’s thesis, Visual Representation of the Colonized Body in North Africa, explored how colonial audiovisual narratives have shaped perceptions of North African bodies and how decolonial aesthetics can serve as a form of resistance.
For the past three years, Nada has been teaching Audiovisual Anthropology and Collaborative Storytelling Seminar at Albert Ludwigs Universität Freiburg and has previously taught at Universität Kassel, Moving School, and KennenLernLaden Waldau.
In 2018, her co-directed Mdaifin’IN which is a web documentary serie, created with women laborers in rural Morocco, gained national and international recognition.
